Due to the sometimes-complex nature of the origami design process, it is uncommon to see step-by-step instructions for most origami beyond a certain level of mastery.

For complex origami, crease patters, showing all fold lines necessary to produce a given shape over a flat sheet of paper, are the standardized way to share designs between people.

 

Given the mathematical nature of origami, seeing a crease pattern is enough to produce a base that can then be shaped to produce the desired result.
